Inveigling the Sledgehammer: Subordinating Negative News and Other Tricks in Business Writing In-Person
Calling all students who are working on business writing! Are you struggling with tone in your business documents? Have you tried to lessen the blow when you deliver bad news but it still seems as though you are a sledgehammer? Writing Center Coordinator, Dr. Amy Nejezchleb, will lead students through a business writing workshop on aspects related to the following:
- concision (eliminating adverbial and subordinating conjunctive clauses)
- positive phrasing (pitching news as neutral or subordinating negative news)
- writerly ethos
